Barony Gent organized a radiant 9 8 Chapter and April's Banquet at the Marriott Hotel, in the heart of Ghent. Last year we placed our annual banquet with the theme "Music and Wine". We showed that music influences the perception of taste and that those are two forms of human creativity strongly linked to each other, we proved with the ensemble Tralalie that treated us to a whole series of cheerful wine songs. This year we drew the line and we wanted the relationship between wine and theatrics focus and experience. So the theme was "Theater and wine", the table names this time no wijnappellaties but a bevy playwrights whose work and life have given the wine. A prominent place But again, we especially wanted to convert those wine-stage symbiosis in practice. We gave them a concrete form with a sketch of the hand of our creative commander Erwin Devriendt (around the theme of wine connoisseurs and wine snobs), and after the main course with a nightmare Cyriel Buysse. Both acts were "put on stage" with brio by our guest of honor Jo Decaluwé.
During the Chapter which preceded it four persons were geïntroniseerd: Etienne Moernaut, hrw a member of the Ghent Wine Meter Guild and loyal guest at our banquets, then of course hrw our special guest actor and theater director Jo Decaluwé hrw and last but not least Stefanie Plancke and Filip Van der Ports both Suze this summer will be appointed Commander Barony and our members will join and enrich undoubtedly great dedication.
The wines with the meal were from Domaine de la Presidente, La Cave de Costebelle, Château Mourgues du Grès, La Cave de Cairanne Camille Cayran and Vacqueyras Vignerons of Character in the VDN came from La Cave de Rasteau.
Our consultants also did not fail to visit the Baronnie de Liège which again and that very many to Ghent gravitated to attend our banquet with a salute - and also benefited from the Saturday and the spring sun to explore our urban Ghent this time.
